MECARD QR code generator
MECARD is a compact contact format that packs a name, phone number and email into far fewer characters than a vCard. Fewer characters mean a less dense code that scans easily from a distance or at a small size. The data sits in the code itself, so it works forever with no account.

Compact contact card that phones can save in one tap
Type the name first, then a phone number and/or email, separated by commas. You can add more than one of each. Example: Ada Lovelace, +14155550123, ada@example.com

Templates are hand-built style presets (colors, gradients, dot and eye shapes), not AI art. They keep your logo, frame, shape and transparency, and every one is dark ink on a light background with at least 4.5:1 contrast. The scan check above still judges your final design.

Who uses a MECARD contact QR code
Small stickers and name badges
A sparse code stays readable on tiny print where a full vCard would not.
Shop windows and vehicle doors
Let people save your number without typing it as they walk past.
Conference lanyards
Print a minimal contact code on the back of a badge.
Lost-and-found tags
Put a name and phone on luggage so a finder can save it and call.
How it works
- 1
Write the person's name first, with the first name before the surname (the last word is treated as the surname).
- 2
Add a phone number with country code and/or an email, separated by commas.
- 3
Special characters such as ; : , and backslashes are escaped for you, as the MECARD format requires.
- 4
Download the code and scan it on both an iPhone and an Android phone to see how each offers to save the contact.
Frequently asked questions
MECARD or vCard, which is better?
vCard holds more fields (job title, address, website) but produces a denser code. MECARD fits a name, numbers and emails in a lighter one.
Does every phone read it?
Android's camera and many scanner apps do. iOS support has varied; if your test scan only shows text, use the vCard option for iPhone users.
Will it expire?
No. It is a static code with the contact data built in, so no account or server is involved.
